St. Francis Industrial Training Centre, run by the Franciscan Missionary Brothers, was established in 1964 with the aim of imparting up-to-date knowledge in technical education to the youth, especially to the less fortunate. The Institute is recognised by the Government and is affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Training under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Rehabilitation (NCVT).
Ever since it’s inception the ITI has helped to train thousands of young men and women from all over India to develop their potentialities and equip themselves to lead a successful life. The Institute provides up-to date training facilities keeping in view of the requirements of the fast growing Industry. All efforts are being made to train the trainees to equip them to cater to the needs of the Industrial World.
The frontiers of industry are continually expanding. Whatever development may take place in future, there will always be a demand for technicians and the industry. It offers excellent prospects for technically trained men and women. Our trained men and women are highly in demand and are placed soon after their training, the campus selection with reputed industries are great boost for the Institute.
Sophisticated modern equipment’s, modern mechanical laboratory, technical library etc. are part of the extravagance that goes to the credit of our Institution. Frequent visits to the factories/industries and the adoption of the latest technical methods are another practical part of our training. To provide them with a thorough groundwork we give importance to the practical needs of the student, making it a student-cantered training. We use the following methods for teaching.
To give better practice with accuracy and workmanship, we undertake job works from neighbouring industries and make the trainees do them as per specifications and drawings. This facilitates the trainees to get confidence in their work and they can be entrusted with any sort of precision jobs
We never over-load a course with unnecessary details. There is a certain amount of material that is just right for any given purpose. The course material is concise and tightly controlled to match the needs of the Industry. It is not quantity that counts, but quality and balance.
Mostly all firms and Departments give preference to Sportsmen technicians. It is said, a healthy sportsman is a wealthy technician. Therefore regular sports and games are included as a part of our training Programme.
The excellence of our training is amply proved by the fact that the Directorate General of Employment and Training (D.G.E & T) in the Ministry of Labour has adjudged the Institute as one of the best I.T.I’s in India and a Merit Certificate was awarded to the Principal, in the years 1983, 85, 86, 87, 91 and 94. Many of our students have secured 1″ Rank at the National and State level exams.
